The 'Bradford' Safe

On Sunday myself and a friend, Graham, embarked on a long journey from Exeter to Porstmouth, a journey that would normally be fairly straightforward in my Diesel Pickup Truck.

We were travelling the 300 mile round journey to collect an old safe that had been in the back of someones garage for some time.

However, this time we decided to take our Electric Van, a Citroen Dispatch. I've never been one for electric vehicles so it's actually nice to report that the journey went very well. After arriving in the Naval City and collecting the safe we managed to find a charging point and after a short 15 minute charge, we were back at 82% and ready to make the journey back to base and commence the light restoration on Monday.

After stripping all of the Brasswork off and spending a few hours polishing back to pristine metal, we gave a the safe a few good cleans to remove all the grime from years of being sat, applied a good few coats of Wax with a good buff to bring back that enamel shine that is oh so satisfying and re assembled.

I think you'll agree the finished product is fantastic!
